Inking with Dip Pens: Comic artist David Grimshaw (Long Arm, Tracks) will cover inking techniques using traditional dip pens in this demo/workshop. Participants are welcome to watch and learn, and even experiment with inking tools and materials. 4:15 PM – 5:15 PM

Hands-On Game Design Workshop: During this 4-hour hands-on tutorial, Andy Ashcraft will lead groups of participants through the process of game design, from brainstorming concepts to play-testing their rough paper prototype of the game.  We’ll be looking at games through the lens of the MDA framework: Mechanics, Dynamics and Aesthetics. All you need to bring is a writing implement, your creativity, and your openness to new ideas. Be prepared for some F-words, like “Fail Fast and Frequently” and “Find the Fun.”  A 2-day long version of this Tutorial has been taught every year at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco for more than 10 years. 5:45 PM – 9:45 PM

Origami: Does Benedict Cumberbatch have an ethereal beauty or a reptilian appearance?  Are Sherlock and Watson platonic friends or victims of a severe case of UST?  Will there ever be a Sherlock/Hobbit crossover that can match the epic levels of both the novels?  Maybe a great detective can figure that out, but we’re just here to fold paper.  Put on your best deerstalker and come learn origami! 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM

Advanced Cosplay Sewing: Covers techniques that will take your costumes above and beyond average.  Topics include seam finishes, hemming, applique, embroidery, serging, and working with different fabrics and tools. 11:45 AM – 12:45 PM

Cel Painting Demo: Before computers, there were these crazy things called ‘cels.’ Artists painted each cel, which corresponded to each frame in an animation. Cel painting is a dying art, but if you want to learn from a pro, sign up for Steve’s famous cel painting class and learn how. 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM

Copic Markers – Beginners: This beginner class will cover product knowledge and the basics of using Copic markers, including coloring with emphasis on proper blending techniques to achieve a three dimensional effect on a manga line drawing, refilling the markers, the care and maintenance of the markers, and choosing the right mediums on which to work. 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Drawing Manga: Have you always wanted to make your own manga but aren’t sure where to start? Kristen McGuire will show you the basics of making manga, from how to get your idea on to paper all the way to printing and selling your manga at a convention. 5:15 PM – 6:45 PM

Copic Markers – Intermediate: This intermediate class will begin with a blank sheet of paper and participants will draw a figure and scene. Participants will be taught tricks and techniques to achieve more complex effects with coloring, shading, and blending. 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

The History of Dr. Who: Whether you’re an old fan of the classic series or into the new Who, this panel covers the start of the show, its history, and the people involved with the evolution of the show. This panel covers all the Doctors in the classic series and their companions. 8:45 PM – 10:45 PM

Delirious with Delirium or “Is Airship Piracy Right for You?” (18+): A late-night storytelling mess of a ‘panel’ where we do exactly what you might think: tell tales of high (and low) adventure, talk about other character career choices in the Steampunk world, and generally ramble on. Though sometimes we talk about sweeties, the language can get salty. 11:00 PM – 12:30 AM

All Yaoi Considered (18+): Are you a fujoshi? Want to learn a bit about yaoi and play some fun games? Join us for a sexy-but-serious presentation on special topics in boys’ love, including old-school, bara, and responding to yaoi criticisms, mixed in with some exciting yaoi-themed games. Plum Blossom A – Doll Market: Our market focuses on Asian Ball-Jointed and similar style dolls, and is limited to dolls and items specifically made for dolls. It is open to everyone! Minors must be accompanied by an adult.  Attendees must have a valid A-Kon 25 badge (for current day) to enter. 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Wake Up Social: Open to all attendees and dolls, though a doll is not required to attend. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.  Food and beverage are welcome but not required. 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM

BJD Basics: Come learn basic care tips and helpful info about BJDs of all types. 9:15 AM – 10:15 AM

Blushing a Tiny Doll: Blush your own 3D printed tiny doll. Workshop includes an introduction and lesson on blushing basics and the differences between blushing resin and a 3D printed nylon doll.  Fee includes a tiny doll, one of Silverbeam’s Iceling BJDs (7.5cm tall), and all supplies necessary. Participants will leave with their painted doll. Pre-registration only! ($25 workshop) 10:45 AM – 12:45 PM

BJD Photography Set Building: Learn to make scaled sets for doll photography. 1:15 PM – 2:15 PM

Face-up Enhancements Demo: Does your doll’s face-up need a little something extra? Cristy Stone of Xtreme Dolls will be showing us her airbrush and painting techniques for altering and enhancing existing face-ups. 2:45 PM – 4:15 PM

Doll A-Kon Contests: On-site registration ends at 4:00 pm Saturday, June 7. Sign in: 4:45 pm to 5:15 pm, no late entries allowed. Set up ends at 5:30 pm with voting from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Awards: 6:15 pm to 6:45 pm.  Entry retrieval: 6:00 pm to 6:15 pm with badge verification.  Dolls must have a stand, chair, or be seated on the table. A responsible party must remain in the room with the entry. 4:45 PM – 6:45 PM

Pouring Resin Drinks Workshop: Learn how to mix, pour and decorate resin drinks for your dolls. (Cost: $12.65, seats 20) 7:15 PM – 8:15 PM

Clay Treats for Dollies Workshop:  Decorate pre-made clay treats for your dolls.  Free while supplies last. 8:30 PM – 9:15 PM
