A-Kon is looking for two new interns! Part of our mission is to help educate the fandom community about all aspects of anime, manga, gaming, music, and Japanese culture. To that end, we have begun our intern project. Last year was a major success, producing a research bibliography and dozens of other small projects as we give our research out as a free gift to the fandom world.
And now we’re set for year two. Interns will assist in research projects, compile contact lists, ensure reporting formats are maintained, and other research-oriented tasks.
Job description: Requires ready access to the internet, proven research abilities, document editing, fact-checking, writing abilities, multiple citation and style format knowledge (Chicago, APA, MLA), and a knowledge of some field of fandom (animation, cinema, music, performance art, graphic novels, etc.). Our bibliography and resources projects are ongoing and will be supplemented on a monthly basis with immediate tasks. Work will be under the supervision of our FANS Conference chair, J. Holder Bennett, an associate professor of history at Collin College. We work with college and university internship programs as applicable. These positions are entirely online.
Successful candidates will receive a complimentary pass to A-Kon 25. The positions are otherwise unpaid.
