Hands-On Game Design Tutorial
During this 4-hour hands-on tutorial, Andy Ashcraft will lead groups of participants through the process of game design, from brainstorming concepts to play-testing their rough paper prototype of the game. We’ll be looking at games through the lens of the MDA framework: Mechanics, Dynamics and Aesthetics, of which more can be read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MDA_framework. All you need to bring is a writing implement, your creativity, and your openness to new ideas. Be prepared for some F-words, like “Fail Fast and Frequently” and “Find the Fun.” A 2-day long version of this Tutorial has been taught every year at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco for more than 10 years.
