Fandom Speaks

Articles and Essays on Anime and it's influence on our culture.

friday night dance 2009

A-Kon is encouraging fans to incorporate anime into their academic lives. Fandom as a sociology, psychology, or statistics project. Anime films and series analyzed like texts. Jpop deconstructed using post-Marxian feminist models. The medium is rife for that sort of thing. Check out the works of Helen McCarthy, Susan Napier, and Jason Bennett. The more people who work on this, the more respectability we'll have.  If you already have something to contribute, send it in and we'll make a pdf of it and put it up on the A-Kon webpage.

All submissions should be in Word or Open Office formats.  Submissions may be edited for style and internal consistency (grammar, spelling, punctuation).  Original authors retain all rights.  Please consult http://writing.wisc.edu/Handbook/DocChicago.html for information on sources and references.

Please send all submissions to specialprograms@a-kon.com.
